About
Warren Hansen
Photographer, traveler, and longtime student of light on water.

I came to photography the long way — by boat. Years on the water taught me patience first, and composition second: that the best light rarely announces itself, and that the frames worth keeping almost always come to the person who is simply willing to wait.
My work is split between two kinds of pictures. The first is for the wall — fine-art travel prints drawn from years of chasing weather, coastlines, and quiet corners of the world. The second is for the family — a discreet, embedded service I offer to a small number of private clients each year, traveling aboard their yacht and documenting the voyage from beginning to end.
I work slowly, in small numbers, and with care. I believe the best photographs are the ones that feel like memory — unforced, unposed, true to the place and the people who were there.

Quiet work, for people who’d rather not be performed for.
Unobtrusive
Aboard, I keep a low profile — small kit, soft footprint, and enough experience at sea to stay out of the crew’s way. You shouldn’t feel documented. You should feel on holiday.
Discreet
NDAs, location redaction, and strict controls on what is ever shared publicly are standard. Many of my best images live only in private family archives, and that is exactly how it should be.
Archival
Everything is delivered to last. Master files in lossless formats, bound books on cotton-rag paper, prints produced by the same labs trusted by museums — because the point is to still love these images in thirty years.
Thinking about a commission?
I’m always happy to have a conversation, whether you’re planning a trip next month or next summer. No pressure, no hard sell.
